Wagga North BESS receives Activation Precinct Certificate

ib vogt is pleased to announce that the Wagga North BESS project has received an Activation Precinct Certificate (APC) from Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC), marking an important milestone in the project's development pathway.

About Special Activation Precincts

Special Activation Precincts (SAPs) are master-planned, development-ready business hubs established under the NSW Government's 20-Year Economic Vision for Regional NSW.

The Wagga Wagga SAP covers approximately 4,500 hectares adjacent to the Bomen Business Park, and is positioned as a hub for agribusiness, advanced manufacturing, freight and logistics, and renewable energy. The precinct is now in its delivery phase, led by RGDC, which assesses proposals against the precinct's Delivery Plan and issues Activation Precinct Certificates to confirm that a proposed development is consistent with the precinct's planning framework.

What the APC means for Wagga North BESS

The APC confirms that the Wagga North BESS proposal aligns with the Wagga Wagga SAP Delivery Plan and the State Environmental Planning Policy (Precincts–Regional) 2021, and allows the project to proceed along the precinct's streamlined planning pathway.

Next steps

With the Activation Precinct Certificate secured, the project's next step is to prepare and lodge the relevant application documents with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) to seek development approval. This will include a development application supported by technical studies already underway, covering matters such as noise, traffic, Aboriginal cultural heritage, bushfire risk and stormwater management.
